Mayra Ruiz-McPherson is a digital marketing consultant and social media strategist. As the Death Care Publicist, she works with funeral homes and cemeteries seeking entry into the online marketing, web 2.0 and social media arena. Her stint as Communications Activities Manager at the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association (ICCFA) gave her unique insight and direct access to senior managers, owners and proprietors of death care operations as well as industry suppliers. In this role, Mayra led numerous email marketing, e-newsletter and other online initiatives on behalf of the association and its members. She also worked alongside the editor of ICCFA Magazine, assisting with creative direction, member advertising and article development.
Today
Today, Mayra continues to author articles for ICCFA Magazine. Her growing reputation as a fresh marketing voice in the industry caught the attention of Kates-Boylston publications who published some of her work in their January 2009 handbook entitled The Funeral Director’s Economic Survival Guide for Cutting Costs & Boosting Revenue.
Prior to working in death care field
Prior to her work in the death care and funeral services industry, Mayra spent over 10 years working in senior marketing roles for companies and organizations of all sizes and industries. She possesses over 15 years of diverse marketing, communications, PR, brand management and creative direction experience and brings a seasoned eye, original perspective and a unique approach toward any marketing challenge.
