[ Charles Town, West Virginia ] May 18, 2009 — Digital marketing professional and online PR expert Mayra Ruiz-McPherson, also known as The Death Care Publicist, will keynote this year’s North and South Carolina Cemetery Association’s Joint Annual Meeting being held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Monday, June 9, 2009. Ruiz-McPherson will lead a comprehensive, 90-minute presentation covering the rapidly-changing world of digital marketing, online PR and social media marketing for cemeteries and funeral service providers.
North Carolina Cemetery Association’s (NCAA) Executive Vice President Andrew “Rusty” Tysor learned of Ruiz-McPherson through various articles she authored and published in ICCFA Magazine, the regular publication produced by the International Cremation, Cemetery & Funeral Association (ICCFA). “I read Mayra’s most recent article detailing some very sound advice on how to work with web professionals,” says Tysor. “It became quite clear from the detailed information and practical tips shared in that piece that Mayra was someone we wanted to hear more from. I sent her an email not long after reading her article. The rest, as we say, is history.”
Ruiz-McPherson, who previously worked as ICCFA’s Communications Event Manager and assisted ICCFA management with the planning and promotion of ICCFA’s Wide World of Sales conference as well as their association’s annual convention in 2008, is eager to assist cemetery owners, executives and sales managers with learning more about how the digital marketing landscape continues to evolve and change daily.
“While working at ICCFA, I witnessed first hand how many death care service establishments and suppliers — from multi-million dollar corporations all the way down to the smallest of family-owned operations — were not utilizing the Internet to its fullest promise and potential,” says Ruiz-McPherson, who blogs regularly about various web marketing topics on her Death Care Publicist blog. “Any opportunity where I can assist those in this industry further their knowledge and understanding of the interactive marketing arena is one I will take every single time.” She adds, “Those willing to tap into the limitless potential digital marketing can often uncover (when approached with the right set of know-how, tools and mindset) are those who will enjoy a heightened competitive advantage and access to previously untapped new markets.”
